Powered by www.eurovision.tv Ukraine’s Alyosha had a long way to Oslo. She was the their third attempt to pick their participant for the 55th Eurovision Song Contest. Nonetheless, she managed to convince Europe with her song Sweet People and finished tenth in the Final. Who is she? Alyosha (Olena Kucher) was born on May 14th, 1986 in Zaporozhie. Since childhood she demonstrated a love for music since the 5th form she sang in a school choir and since the age of 15 she attended the Yunost studio. When she became 18, Alyosha dared for major changes in her life. She moved to Kyiv and got enrolled to the Kyiv National University of Culture and Art, Faculty of Pop Vocal. At the same time she opened her own recording studio together with some friends. Alyosha is the author of many hits for popular singers. She worked at Fabrika Zvesd (Star Factory) as a vocal teacher, back-vocalist, sound producer, author and composer. She collaborated with Potap & Nastia Kamenskih, Natasha Mogelivskaya, Irina Bilyk, Alina Grosu and Ani Lorak. In 2008, Alyosha signed a contract with the production centre Catapult Music, which gave her life a sudden new swing. Alyosha filmed a clip to the song Sneg – this track was put on hot rotation on all radio channels. The singer’s first album (recorded in English) was also released in the USA.

Tonight, the First Semi-Final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Olimpiyskiy Arena in Moscow. In an exciting show, the representatives of ten countries were picked to advance to the Final. Find out who qualified here! Millions of viewers tuned in tonight to watch the First Semi-Final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. The show was broadcast live from the Olimpiyskiy Arena in Moscow, and it was presented by Natalia Vodyanova and Andrey Malakhov. Nine qualifying countries were picked by televoting, and a tenth finalist was selected by the national juries all over Europe. All the countries represented in the First Semi-Final were voting, as well as Germany and the United Kingdom. This is the list of countries that qualified (the full results will be revealed after the Final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest): Turkey Sweden Israel Portugal Malta Finland Bosnia and Herzegovina Romania Armenia Iceland That now means that 15 out of 25 participants of the Final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest are known. Chanée & N’evergreen finished fourth in the Final with their In A Moment Like This! Who are they? Christina Chanée had already won several talent competitions at the age of 17. Even though she has also sung jazz, pop music has always been the pivotal point in her musical life. In 2003 she won the soundtrack competition for the Danish movie Anja Efter Viktor. The year after she became a singer in the band Nubian Fräuleins in the entertainment program on Danish TV, Endelig Fredag. During that time, she met Kid Creole, who later offered her the leading role in the production of Martin Gaye — The Musical. Later she joined Kid Creole and the Coconuts with whom she has since toured. Thomas N’evergreen – real name Thomas Christiansen – formed his first band when he was in the sixth grade and saw his first success with the song Every Time I See Your Smile which was high on the playlist of MTV Russia. It was also played on the radio channel Europa Plus with 80 million listeners, and in the Ukraine the single topped the charts. The Russian connection was made, and he was invited to Russia to give concerts. This sparked off his big breakthrough. Since 2003 he has been living in Moscow where he continued his success. Since then he has been giving about 60 concerts a year — several of them in front of 40.000 people.
