Shakira: Concern Over Ariz. New Immigration Law

Colombian singer Shakira visited Phoenix on Thursday, meeting with officials and local residents to talk about concerns that a sweeping new state law cracking down on illegal immigration will lead to racial profiling. (April 29)

well i think shes taking a stand on this issue which concerns everybody, well yes shes not a cityzen or resident BUT ARE YOU AMERICANS RESINDET IN IRAQ, AFGANISTAN??!!! … NOOOOOOOOOOOO and still you are there fighting for whats not yours!! if you feel strong enough to do that.. why cant she tell and fight for her beliefs wheter shes american or not??? i guess we’re in the same spot…….

we have these laws to proect our country we dont care about your latino or hispanic families all we want is your people out of our country if you are from mexico or your family then stay there why would you want to come here if your not wanted anyway?
@keabler77 I have my green card now but my mom came to this country when I was about 11 years old… it wasnt my choice, my life was made here and I grew up here and came here to college and continue to attend with a 4.0 GPA. I’m not the only one who came here young, and it’s not our fault. We didn’t choose to. You can’t speak with such ignorance and pretend that others will listen if you are not being sensitive to other people’s stories.

There are plenty of ignorant people who target small groups/minorities blaming them for everything that happens. yea the problem with this is i went to mcdonalds today and the kid tanking the order spoke spanish WTF. im just pissed i mean i speak a little spanish but not much I had to ask for someone else and this is not a hispanic.
We need laws to protect legal citiizens that pay taxes.

As a born and raised Phoenician I understand what people in Arizona are going through. Those who work illegally still pay taxes and don’t collect social security. I don’t understand why my state would want to remove about half a million people who are contributing to the economy. Illegals work jobs that most citizens would not work for the same wages. They are here to improve the life of their families, just like those who first came to America over the Atlantic.

Shakira is an attention whore. she is irrelevant to this matter and the 80% of people who approve this law are not going to change their minds just because she goes up on a podium and reads a speech that she obviously didnt write or even rehearse. Im Mexican American and I agree with this law, I dont mind showing my ID if I get pulled over for something, its not that big a deal to show your DL if asked to.
Everyone should understand its not immigration that people are against, its ILLEGAL immigration. This country welcomes anyone who wants the AMERICAN DREAM just go through the proper process and wait in line like the rest.
. Most people have to wait in line for years before they acquire any legal documents to be able to come here legally. The illegals come here within a few days and start work, get credit cards, banks accounts, healthcare, and welfare for the 10 kids they end up having. All this while the ones waiting in line just sit back and wait to be able to come here legally. Thats no really fair in my opinion. This is why we need this to be a federal law and implement this law to every state in the US.

Not only that, the drug issue down there is frightening. Something has to be done, and I think this is the kindest way to do it. its clear shakira doesnt even know what the law says ,she doesnt even live in arizona for crying out loud … if she lived in tucson then she would relize the problem we have .there are stash house all across my town and innocet people get killed because of home invasions . the law only ask for ur papers if you have commited a crime if you don want to be asked dont commit a crime..screw california there racist against arizona !!!!

I’m an immigrant and I’m an only child(dont have 10 brothers or sisters) the only crime my parents commit was that they wanted a better future for me. oh and we pay taxes so we dont live out of your money bw i kno alot of immigrants families who pay taxes like a regular U.S. citizen
